EweLog ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our knitting and crochet companion app at ewelog.com and app.ewelog.com.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your display name, username, email address, and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth).

Profile information: You may optionally provide your location, bio, experience level, social media links, and a profile photo.

Content you create: Yarn stash entries, works in progress, finished objects, projects, patterns, notes, forum posts, and photos you upload.

Usage data: We collect basic information about how you use the app, including pages visited and features used, to improve the service.

Payment information: If you subscribe to EweLog Pro, payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. We do not store your credit card details — Lemon Squeezy handles all payment data securely.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the EweLog service
Sync your data across devices
Process your Pro subscription payments via Lemon Squeezy
Send you important account notifications (password resets, service updates)
Improve the app based on usage patterns
Display your public profile and forum posts to other users

3. AI Advisor (Ewe Advisor)

When you use the Ewe Advisor, your yarn stash data may be sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalised responses. This data is used only for generating your response and is not stored by the AI provider. You can use the Advisor without an API key on the free plan (limited messages per day).

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL database) hosted in the cloud. We use row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage buckets. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

Supabase: Database and authentication provider
Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions
Anthropic: AI processing for the Ewe Advisor feature (stash context only)

Forum posts, replies, and public profile information are visible to other EweLog users.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a UK/EU user, you have the right to:

Access your personal data (use the Export feature in Settings)
Correct inaccurate data (edit your profile and content at any time)
Delete your account and all associated data (use Delete Account in Settings)
Export your data in a portable format (JSON export in Settings)
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

7. Cookies and Local Storage

EweLog uses browser localStorage to cache your session data for faster loading. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Supabase uses session cookies for authentication.

8. Children's Privacy

EweLog is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems. Forum posts may be anonymised rather than deleted to maintain thread continuity.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email or an in-app notification.
